About Us

Smoky Mountain Harmony A Cappella Show Chorus is so proud that in our 9 years as an official Sweet Adelines International chartered chorus we have won our 5-state wide regional contest three times and have represented our region in Portland, Oregon; Phoenix, Arizona; and Detroit, Michigan at the International Competitions.

Our chorus provides fun, family-oriented entertainment to our community with events such as our Annual Show, the American Heart Walk, Race For The Cure, various Assisted Living Centers, Knoxville's Foster Parents Appreciation Annual Dinner, PBS's Fund Raiser, Knoxville Opera Company's Rossini Festival, Relay for Life – Anderson County Survivors Dinner, and the Women's Build Project for Habitat for Humanity. We had the honor of representing Sweet Adelines International at the Barbershop Harmony Society Men's International Competition in Nashville, Tennessee, in July of 2001.

Smoky Mountain Harmony is a member of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances. This independent, nonprofit music education association is one of the world's largest singing organizations for women. "Harmonize the World" is the organization's motto. Today the organization has more than 30,000 members, with over 600 chapters (choruses) in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico, and six countries in Europe.

Our Director: Chris Klepeis

Chris hails from a family of barbershoppers. Her dad was a life long member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) where summer vacations were planned around the men's international conventions. Soon after high school graduation, she joined the local chapter of Sweet Adelines in New York.

While a member of the Singin' Queens Chorus (Queens, NY), the director moved away and Chris took over the helm of the chorus. Over the years Chris has been a member of and competed with the Greater Nassau Chorus, the Heart of Long Island Chorus, and most recently, the Island Hills Chorus until her family moved to East Tennessee.

During her Sweet Adeline experiences she has held most every management position in the chorus. Additionally, she has been show chair, publicity/marketing chair, treasurer, and section leader. Chris served as the Marketing Coordinator on the Regional Management Team for Region #15, Metropolitan New York for three years. She sang baritone with a number of quartets.

Chris' musical background is supported by her classical piano training. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Dowling College in New York. She and her husband Richard have a home in Mooresburg, TN. They have a daughter, Jill who lives in Ohio.
